Yamuna ist eine österreichische Sängerin und Komponistin, und nun ist mit „Inspiration“ ihre erste CD erschienen. Vom Stil her ist Yamunas Musik ein wunderschöner, melodiöser „Pop“ – also kein Experiment mit irgendwelchen Hiphop-Techno-Trance-Hardrock-Rap-Goa-usw.-Kombinationen. Yamuna braucht das nicht, denn sie kann sich auf ihre Stimme und die aus dem Inneren geschöpften Kompositionen verlassen. Acht der elf Lieder hat sie selber getextet und komponiert und wurde dabei auf kongeniale Weise vom amerikanischen Musiker David Mikeal (davidmikeal.com) unterstützt. Nur schon diese Zusammenarbeit eröffnet beim Zuhören immer wieder neue Dimensionen der Harmonie und des Miterlebens. Die Reinheit der Schwingung macht Yamunas Musik nicht zu einer seichten Disco-Konsumware, doch wer im Inneren die Resonanz findet, wird je länger je mehr beflügelt und tanzt auf einmal mit, ohne es zu merken – und sei es auch „nur“ zu Hause allein in der Stube.
Mit leicht verständlichen englischen Texten bringt Yamuna spirituelle Gefühle des Sinnsuchens und -findens (wie in „Inspiration“, „In my dreams“), der Verbundenheit mit Mutter Erde und der Schöpfung („Mother Earth“, „Running“, „Compassion“), der Liebe zu Gott („Back to You“, „I’ve got to sing my song“), der Zeitlosigkeit („In Race of Time“, „Simple Thing“) und der innigen Freundschaft („You’ve got a friend“, „In my dreams“, „Running“) zum Ausdruck, alles mit einer sanft-sehnlich eindringlichen Stimme, die unter die Haut und ins Herz geht.
Die Texte sind im kunstvoll gestalteten CD-Büchlein enthalten. Aber das Nachlesen erübrigt sich bald, denn das Verstehen und „Mitgehen“ geht weit über die Information der Worte hinaus.
Die Kompositionen sind ausgereifte Werke. Yamuna ließ sich mehrere Jahre Zeit fürs Komponieren und für die Produktion. Inspirierte Werke lassen sich nicht erzwingen. Und so fragt man hier nicht gleich: „Wann kommt die nächste CD?“, sondern genießt „INSPIRATION“ im Hier und Jetzt.

Yamuna is an Austrian singer and composer, and now her first CD „Inspiration“ has been released. In terms of style, Yamuna’s music is a beautiful, melodic „pop“ – so no experimentation with any hiphop-techno-trance-hardrock-rap-goa-etc. combinations. Yamuna doesn’t need that, because she can rely on her voice and the compositions drawn from within. She has written and composed eight of the eleven songs herself and was supported in a congenial way by the American musician David Mikeal (davidmikeal.com). This collaboration alone opens up ever new dimensions of harmony and sharing while listening. The purity of the vibration does not make Yamuna’s music a shallow disco consumer product, but whoever finds the resonance inside will be inspired the longer the more and will suddenly dance along without noticing it – even if it is „only“ at home alone in the living room.
With easy-to-understand English lyrics, Yamuna brings spiritual feelings of seeking and finding meaning (as in „Inspiration,“ „In my dreams“), of connection with Mother Earth and creation („Mother Earth,“ „Running,“ „Compassion“), of love for God („Back to You.“ „I’ve Got to Sing My Song“), timelessness („In Race of Time,“ „Simple Thing“) and intimate friendship („You’ve Got a Friend,“ „In My Dreams,“ „Running“) are expressed, all in a softly haunting voice that gets under your skin and into your heart.
The lyrics are included in the artfully designed CD booklet. But reading them soon becomes superfluous, because understanding and „going along“ goes far beyond the information of the words.
The compositions are mature works. Yamuna took several years to compose and produce them. Inspired works cannot be forced. And so one does not immediately ask here: „When will the next CD come?“, but enjoys „INSPIRATION“ in the here and now.

First up, some of you will recognise the name of David Mikeal. Yes, ex MPG, and solo artist Mikeal (Pressence, Journey To Poexula) has a large hand in this album by Austrian chanteuse, Yamuna. This is not Pomp, and is barely Aor! But what it is, is a cracking acoustic/electric
collection of songs with elements of Pop, Folk, and Mor (middle of the road) by a singer/songwriter with a spiritual base. Spiritual, yes, christian yes, an more than a dose of New Age within the lyrics. Don’t runaway now! its all tastefully written and you never get the feeling of being preached to. The tunes are more of an observance, a reminder, than anything else, of the chaos that surrounds us in all its directionless glory, and that some people still care. I’m not going to ramble on any more because I am not exactly qualified to draw comparisons to other artists, but Yamuna does list her influences as Janis Joplin and Carol King. Honestly, I don’t believe I’ve ever heard those artists (heard of, yes!), but my musical diet has always been a little „rockier“ and perhaps a tad superficial. Its hard to pick out favourite songs: they are all excellent, heartfelt tunes, by a lady with a certain penchance for lyrical profoundity, and hitting a sweet spot that I didn’t know I had. But if I may! There is a beautiful picture hidden within the cd’s tray, behind the cd, that would have been ideal as a cover for this album. An observance. This is a cool and „deep“ album and a natural choice for a relaxed night in with the one you love, or for a spot of quiet introspection and reflection. Let Yamuna will take you there.

Ja, der ehemalige MPG- und Solokünstler Mikeal (Pressence, Journey To Poexula) hat einen großen Anteil an diesem Album der österreichischen Sängerin Yamuna. Dies ist nicht Pomp, und ist kaum Aor! Aber was es ist, ist eine krachende akustische/elektrische
Sammlung von Songs mit Elementen von Pop, Folk und Mor (middle of the road) von einer Singer/Songwriterin mit spiritueller Basis. Spirituell, ja, christlich ja, und mehr als eine Dosis New Age in den Texten. Es ist alles geschmackvoll geschrieben und man hat nie das Gefühl, dass einem was gepredigt wird. Die Melodien sind eher eine Beobachtung, eine Erinnerung an das Chaos, das uns in all seiner richtungslosen Pracht umgibt, und daran, dass es noch Menschen gibt, die sich darum kümmern. Ich werde nicht weiter ausschweifen, denn ich bin nicht gerade qualifiziert, Vergleiche mit anderen Künstlern zu ziehen, aber Yamuna nennt als ihre Einflüsse Janis Joplin und Carol King. Ehrlich gesagt glaube ich nicht, dass ich diese Künstler jemals gehört habe (gehört, ja!), aber meine musikalische Ernährung war schon immer ein wenig „rockiger“ und vielleicht ein wenig oberflächlich. Es ist schwer, Lieblingssongs herauszupicken: es sind alles hervorragende, herzliche Lieder, von einer Dame mit einem gewissen Hang zur lyrischen Tiefe, und sie treffen einen Sweet Spot, von dem ich nicht wusste, dass ich ihn habe. Aber wenn ich darf! In der CD-Schublade, hinter der CD, ist ein wunderschönes Bild versteckt, das ideal als Cover für dieses Album gewesen wäre. Eine Beobachtung. Dies ist ein cooles und „tiefgründiges“ Album und eine natürliche Wahl für eine entspannte Nacht mit der Person, die Sie lieben, oder für einen Ort der stillen Selbstbeobachtung und Reflexion. Lassen Sie sich von Yamuna dorthin bringen.
